Hello, everyone!
Thank you for sharing in this celebration with us! We’d like to share our story with you. It began in 2018, after the Christmas Eve service at our church. The typical introductions were made, with no lasting impression, no initial spark. In the years that followed, our paths continued to meet in small, passing moments, lending to a curiosity about each other. It is funny looking back, we did not realize what God was quietly setting in motion.
My brother, Richard, has long been friends with Josh and his family. During Josh’s frequent visits to spend time with him, we would occasionally see each other. Even then, I felt drawn to him—admiring his character and the way he carried himself. Apparently, as I learned later, Josh took notice of me as well, but neither of us knew enough to act on it, trusting that God’s timing would reveal what was meant to be.
Everything started to come together in April of 2023. Rich invited my brother and I over to Emma’s new apartment for a house warming party to play games. I remember having such a great time that day, and it dawned on me that I had deeper feelings for her. The way she served others showed a compassionate heart, and her kindness initially drew me to her. I heard Emma make a comment about not having space for her piano, deciding to part with it. I like playing piano, so I let her know I was interested.
It was a fun evening, with a few friends and family members I had over my new place. I remember telling Josh he could take the piano, and we exchanged phone numbers. A week later, he came over to pick it up. It was a warm Saturday morning out on my second floor balcony, when he courageously shared his feelings. To our surprise, we discovered we had both felt the same way years before. We chose to move forward prayerfully, starting where the best relationships begin; as friends.
Over the next several months, God continued to draw us together, serving side by side during our church’s VBS kids ministry. This allowed us to grow closer—not only to each other, but in our faith as well. It was clear that we had very different personalities, but somehow, the differences did not pose a burden or barrier. Through prayer, meaningful conversations, and shared experiences, like taking hikes and bonding through our shared creative nature, our friendship deepened into love. With gratitude for one another and peace, we decided to begin dating, confident that God was leading our steps. Our relationship became a journey of growth, grace, and trust in the Lord. We learned how to encourage one another, lean on God through every season, and walk in unity. In time, we arrived at a moment we both knew was coming: the day we got engaged, joyfully affirming our commitment to each other and to a Christ-centered future.
We are incredibly thankful for God’s faithfulness, and cannot wait to begin this next chapter of life together, surrounded by love, prayer, and all those who have supported us along the way.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6
